Re: Modified P.I.G.S. Baboyang Walang Amoy, Feeds/Marketing Solutions

Sir Ronski,

Based on the posting of Sir tholitz, malinamnam din at masarap karne ng baboy nia sa semi-freerange.

Based on the process of elimination sa mga postings, it seems ang pula ng karne, manipis na taba, sa palagay ko karamihan nakuha sa fermented FeedsPro feeds and free-range area or mga plants.

Only a small part I think is attributable to the DBS area since the DBS area's major contribution is actually para mawala ang amoy sa baboyan.

Just my observation.   smile

Re: Modified P.I.G.S. Baboyang Walang Amoy, Feeds/Marketing Solutions

@duckduck

Hehehe. Thank you for your valuable input. As of now, pantay lang naman ang presyo ko with the local wetmarket which is 170/kilo ang laman. Kahit pautang ay 170/kilo parin. I agree with what you said na maraming magagalit na negosyante sayo. Naranasan namin last december yan.

For everyone of us, I think we really have to give focus on the quality of our products plus added customer service. Based on my experience, malaking factor ang customer satisfaction sa pagmamarket ng mga produkto natin. smile

With regrads sa langgam na pula, I was able to read something about natural insect repellant combination. I just dont know if it will work on red ants. You might want to try it and give us feedback smile hehehe.

Insecticide / Repellant Combination

Mixture #1    Tobacco leaf 10 kg, Sugar 3 kg, water 10 liters.

Mixture #2    Saabsue 10 kg, Sugar 3 kg, water 10 liters.

Mixture #3    Neem 10 kg, Sugar 3 kg, water 10 liters.

Chop, mix, cover, and wait 2 weeks.

Apply using 1 liter of mixture #1, 1 liter of mixture #2, and 1 liter of mixture #3.
Mix all 3 liters with 200 liters of water (total = 203 liters).
Spray weekly.

Thanks

Re: Modified P.I.G.S. Baboyang Walang Amoy, Feeds/Marketing Solutions

@Van,

1. Walang tobaco leaves sa Bicol. Tobaco Cigar lang kaya magastos na siguro.

2. Ano ho yong Saabsue?

3. Merong Neem trees sa Bicol.  Bunga ba or leaves lang or both?

I am going to try it and post the result.

Thanks for the info,

Re: Modified P.I.G.S. Baboyang Walang Amoy, Feeds/Marketing Solutions

kuyang,

try searching the net and get some info how to get rid of them.

oriental herbal nutrients (OHN) is also one good insect repellant. it is mainly compose of Ginger, Onions and garlic fermented with sugar/mollases and with vinegar.

2/3 c water,1/3 c white vinegar, and 2-3 Tea spoon dish soap. Spray.

Re: Modified P.I.G.S. Baboyang Walang Amoy, Feeds/Marketing Solutions

@duckduck

I just got it out of somewhere over the net while searching for korean natural farming system. Hehehe. Pasensya ka na.

You might want to use OHN instead as sir tholitz said. Kasi sa amin, we are using OHN to drive away flies and other insects pero hindi ko rin nasubukan ito for ants.

Heres the recipe:

Oriental Herbal Nutrients (OHN) / Herb Medicine
Nutrient (HMN)
A. Materials
1. Ginger, garlic and bulb onions
2. Manila paper (unprinted)
3. Crosscut bamboo or clay jar or glass jar
4. Plastic straw (for tying)
5. Muscovado sugar
6. Coconut vinegar, Beer or Gin

B. Procedure
1. Finely chop half-a-kilo each of ginger, bulb onion and
garlic.
2. Transfer chopped spices into a bamboo through or clay/
glass jar and pour 2 liters coconut vinegar . Mix well and
cover with a clean Manila paper and tie with plastic straw.
3. Preserve for a duration of 12 hours then remove cover and
add 1 kilo of muscovado sugar. Replace cover.
4. Place container in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
5. After 4 to 5 days of fermentation add gin.
6. Replace cover, return to storing place and retrieve after 7
to 10 days. Strain liquid from container and place in
plastic bottles.
7. OHN is now ready to use.
8. You can extract liquid 5 times from this preparation. Add
beer or vinegar into container and ferment using the same
procedure.

C. Uses and Application
1. Add 2 tablespoons of OHN to every liter of water. Spray
mixture into leaves or soil, at both ends of the day (4:00-
6:00 AM or 4:00 PM) when microorganisms are most active
to the following crops:
Rice, corn, Vegetables, Fruits and Bananas — from
planting up to bearing stage. (Apply twice weekly upon
indications of insects infestation and aphids.)
2. Used as natural anti-biotic for plants and animals. Garlic
has high level of sulfur which is a good fungicide.
3. Used on chicks, chickens and sick animals.
4. Sprayed to plant leaves to fortify phyllosphere microbes.
5. Treatment for fungal problems of plants: downy mildew,
powdery mildew. (See application on number 1)
6. Used as herbal tinctre which is highly medicinal and
highly nutritious.
7. On humans: a) used as a remedy for rheumatism; and b) a
treatment for coughs, fever and flu.

D. Benefits
1. Serve as insecticide and fungicide at the same time.
2. Provide more vigor and vitality to the plant.
3. Use to treat skin diseases of hogs and other animals.
4. Use as energy drink for humans.

Thanks,

Van

@tholitz

Thanks for the info. Okay napo ung 4 - 5 months from weaning ata aabot ng 90 Kgs above. Malaki din ba ang natipid ninyo by mixing your own feeds?

BTW, i got this table from a book published by Aloha Farms in Palawan.

Age(Mo)    KG        Gross        Price/kilo    Total Cost    Net
6.0     112     10,335.00     92.28         5,188.00     5,147.00
6.0     108     9,229.00     85.45         5,092.00     4,137.00
5.7     103     9,325.00     90.53         4,972.00     4,353.00
5.7     92         8,200.00     89.13         4,708.00     3,492.00

about this feeds mix with legumes, its good to know that marami na nagprapraktis, it will inspire us newbies in baboyan, lalo na kung may area na pwde taniman.

mulberry tree seedling         (20 pesos each)
at 1 kilo seeds of indigofera (600 pesos)

Sir Ross, is your description above the procedure sa pagtanim ng alugbati?

I just follow the Foukoka (Nature Farming) seed ball practice. Mas mataas ang germination/survival rate kung naka bola (mixture of top soil, germinating solution as per above, palagkit na lupa as binder).

Thanks, Sir Ross.  If you have seedlings of the alugbati, can you please sell some to me? I'll email you the shipping address.

Kuya D,

Please email the address in your area in Bicol. I have available alugbati and winged beans that I could spare.

Van

@Van,

I am sure Sir Wintuha can give you the answer to your question although other people have already given you their answers as best they could.

Although I have not experienced yet what you were asking, I am going to post here one possible answer to your question based on what I have read in this forum.  Here it is:

50% IMO food
25% rice bran D1
25% commercial pig food
Add water to make a slop. FFJ (papaya or tundan saging/ FPJ banana trunk.)
Pigs should reach market weight in 3-4 months.

The above were just some of what I copied and pasted into my computer based on my various readings in this forum.   I suggest that you please do some further research for the details because they are quite long.

The above came from someone who have successfully practiced that kind of feeding for so many years already.  He also advised all to first make ready all the necessary plants to make the IMO foods.  He further said that a 300 square meters of feedlot can produce IMO food for at least 10 pigs.  I myself is still in the preparation stage for the feedlot.  As to the person  who posted this, I already told you who he was and where you can find the postings.

I would like to advise you also that if possible please attend seminars on organic farming, and visit successful farms of experienced piggeries if they will allow you (we have been doing these also for hands-on experience and know-how), because by so doing, you will really gain lots of knowledge on this matter.

Ivan,

Last X'mas nagbenta ako ng grower/fattener and the average liveweight is 82kg. Di pa ako 100% IMO feeds dahil yung plant materials that I used ay kakaunti pa rin. However, there is a substitute for soya which the National Academy of Science in Washington, DC called as "soya of the tropic", sa Tagalog ang tawag sa legume plant na ito ay "Kalamismis" or sigarillas or winged bean. There are several articles in the internet that you can read about kalamismis or winged bean.

Also, yellow corn is quite expensive nowadays dahil yung expected harvest from Northern Phil. Again, there is a substitute for yellow corn, palm oil.

Thank you for your very informative response. I was also able to read the Formulation for IMO Pig Food prepared by Sir Andry from some posts over the net. In paticular, i just wanted to know the actual weight of the pig if fed using this kind of formulation which is answered by sir wintuha(82 kgs) for a base reference.

Thank you for promptly asnwering my questions sir. Now, i have an idea how much my pig should weigh. Hehehe.

Hehe. Kung gagamitin ba ito as a substitute, may mga processes pa ba na kaylangan (drying, grinding) or can it be given fresh?

As for the African palm oil, yung by product po ba after extraction ang magagamit or it can also be given raw/fresh?

Thanks

Will still be a value added if applied sa commercial pig production?

Sir kenbats,

I am still in the preparatory stage in the plant alternative feeds (planting and feeding plants as merienda "ONLY" in addition to the commercial feeds).

Tholitz and his dad also attended the seminar of Andry Lim & company a year ago and since then was still planting plants in his property and is just starting to implement what they learned from the seminar.  Since they already have all the mixtures and percentages of the alternative plant feeds from the seminar, I hope they already have or shall later gain the experience in preparing the right mix to equal that of the commercial feeds.  Tholitz is now reporting that the carcass of their pigs are of good quality compared to the ones being sold by others in the slaughterhouse (palengke).

As far as I know Sir Wintuha is already mixing his own alternate plant feeds and although I sent someone to his farm for OJT, we have not actually started preparing alternative feeds inside the drums for fermentation.

Even now there is no FEEDSPRO in Sorsogon City and I am still negotiating with the FeedsPro TRO to deliver to Sorsogon City their products so that I can also start fermenting their feeds.

Sir Kenbats,

Mali pagkaintindi mo sa akin.

Ang sabi ko nasa preparatory stage pa lang ako...meaning na wala pa akong sapat na tanim in order to sustain continuous IMO food feeding.  Kaya whatever we have ay pangmerienda lang in addition to our regular commercial feeds.

This was a part of the posting that I copied and pasted to my computer:

50% IMO food
25% rice bran D1
25% commercial pig food
Add water to make a slop. FFJ (papaya or tundan saging/ FPJ banana trunk.)

Pigs should reach market weight in 3-4 months.  When experienced people say that the pigs should reach market weight in 3-4 months, the meaning market weight in the sentence should start at 80 kilos going up even to a little above 100 kilos.

From the above percentages, one must learn how to make IMO foods and one must have enough of the right plants in his property for the IMO foods.  The posting even hinted that a 300 square meters feedlot can be planted with enough plants to accommodate the IMO foods of up to 10 pigs.

When I have enough plants, I shall start doing the above formulary to find out for myself if it is true or not.  I also have the initial containers to use so that we can also practice fermenting IMO foods to see if the pigs will like them or not.

I think I'll do it also later, because I have no reason at all not to believe him.

BTW, did you already attend or did you send someone from your farm to attend one of Mr. Andry's seminars?  Sir tholitz and his dad did attend already, that is why they are already in the preparation stage to do what they learned from the seminar.  I have an arrangement with Sir tholitz to send my workers to his dad when I have enough plants already, although I have some information on how to do it already based on what Sir Wintuha taught us before.

Preparation requires time, probably years and also expenses.  So please take note of that.

Sir Kenbats,

Punta ka sa "Philippines Organic Farming"/"Natural Farming Seminar ni Andry Lim".

I just up the thread, and Sir Ronski immediately post a question to Sir Andry Lim for the date and venue of his next seminar.  Here is the post of Sir Ronski:

Then Sir tholitz also immediately posted an answer to Sir Ronski of the January 2012 dates and venues of the seminars to be conducted by Mam Jojie and Sir Andry.  Here is the post of Sir tholitz:

"mga kuyang,
seminar info from ms. Jojie Lim
Janaury 23-28 2012 at Tribal Mission Foundation inc. training center  in tugbok dist. Davao city.
there will be upcoming training also in Naga City...dates to be finalize pa.
Flor's Garden Antipolo Rizal by March.
i will check with mam jojie the exact dates, locations and the topics to be discuss during the training/seminars."

In the thread of Sir Andry Lim, you can ask him directly about his 100% free ranging pigs.  Better still if you can send someone to the seminar (since you are currently not in the PI) para hands-on lahat ang pagaaral at tanungan at kasagutan.

@Sir tholitz, please, paki post na lang sa thread na ito kung meron kang makuhang latest information sa mga seminar ni Mam jojie lim and Sir Andry Lim, so that if there are members who are interested, they can plan on attending the seminar.  Thanks a lot.

Re: Modified P.I.G.S. Baboyang Walang Amoy, Feeds/Marketing Solutions

Hi sirs,

We are frequently applying fermented rice bran para po sa DBS niya.

We used sawdust, woodchips, rice hulls, and ricestraw for our DBS.

Any help/suggestion would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

Van

@Elgin,

2. Maigsi pa lang ang thread na ito. Ganon din, simulan mong magbasa from the start and may mapupulot ka ring kaalaman sa pagsimula ng pagbababoyan.

Re: Modified P.I.G.S. Baboyang Walang Amoy, Feeds/Marketing Solutions

Mga Kuyang and Ateng,

On Page 1, post no. 23 in this thread, I posted drawings and sketches of the farrowing crate sent to me by Sir Kenbats that were intended only as guidelines since the drawings are still in the testing stage.  Well, he already used them in his farm and so far wala naman daw po siang mortality sa mga inahin at sa mga biik.

After seeking his permission, I am posting here the details of the anti-crush bar inside the farrowing crate that will control the movement of the sow when she likes to lie down para magpasuso ng mga biik. He advised 1/2" G.I.

kuyang d and kuyang kenbats, how far from the flooring should the first horizontal bar be in the farrowing crate na design nyo?

Direct mail services are a cost-effective solution for business owners who want to dramatically increase sales and expand their loyal customer base. It is a direct mailmarketing approach that delivers high-volume sales results through physical connection with potential customers. Emails are often directed to spam folders or deleted without ever being opened. Direct mailings are entirely different because a majority of people open and look at physical mail delivered to them.

@ Sir Ronski,

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j52/tonyjao/farrowngcratedetail.jpg

@ Kenbats,

Hindi ko alam kung anong sukat ang sinunod ng welder ko based on the above detail measurements (pinasusukat ko sa actual, wala pang reply).  Hindi kaya possible typo error and 6.7" or mali lang ang pagkaintindi ko?  Kasi pag binawas ko ang 1'.1.5" sa bandang ibaba from the total of 2'.0.8" sa bandang itaas ay halos 11.5" ang result that approximate the "at least 1 foot" in your reply.

Anyway, I really appreciate your help.

This is the reality of this kind of operation.  Kaya I decided to raise finishing hogs also and found out that such operation is much simpler because in 3-4 months, one can start to get back his investment.

However, I will still strive and continue to learn the gilt and sow operation, because if we are successful, the savings in the cost of piglets would really help a lot.

Re: Modified P.I.G.S. Baboyang Walang Amoy, Feeds/Marketing Solutions

@kuyang d,

Re: Modified P.I.G.S. Baboyang Walang Amoy, Feeds/Marketing Solutions

@Kenbats,

Ah, intindi ko na. Salamat uli.
